Burgundy Discovery
Who We Are
Established in 2003, in the heart of the Burgundy vineyards, we provide personal, private, or small-group wine-tasting tours to carefully selected wine cellars and vineyards in Burgundy which are not always accessible to the public. We take our guests to meet independent family winegrowers typical to Burgundy — visiting their ancient cellars, tasting their wonderful wines, and exploring world-famous vineyards.
Owners Robert and Joy Pygott, together with our colleague Patrick Carpenter, all originally from the UK, are WSET Level 3 & 4 Certified.
There is opportunity to buy wine, from the Domaine’s we visit, often unavailable outside France, and at vineyard prices. We can also arrange for wines to be shipped to most countries
Our Wine Tours
On a typical day, you will visit three, family-owned domaines and taste between 15 to 20 wines from the bottle, or where possible, from the barrel, across a range of vintages.
Throughout the day we take a closer look at the vines to appreciate ‘terroir’ and aspect, answering your questions on Burgundy and its wines. We visit ancient cellars and working wineries to explain the winemaking process and what is happening in the vineyards at the time of your visit.
In collaboration with carefully selected local restaurants renowned for their typical Burgundian cuisine, we will also enjoy a three-course lunch with wine.
The tour offers the opportunity to taste a variety of Burgundy’s Regional, Village, and Premier Cru, red and white wines during a relaxing and enjoyable day.
